Geonosians are an insectoid sapient species native to Geonosis, a planet in the Star Wars galaxy. They are known for hive-based social structures and advanced engineering, especially in droid production. Geonosis serves as the hub for their industrial complexes and has a central role in the early Separatist movement during the Clone Wars.

Physically, Geonosians resemble humanoid insects with exoskeletons; many possess wings, though some individuals are wingless. They have compound eyes, antennae, and a hard carapace. Their life cycle centers on a reproductive queen and caste divisions—workers, drones, and soldiers—in a eusocial arrangement. Geonosians communicate through vocalizations and pheromones, and their language is depicted in canon as the Geonosian language.

Society and culture: Hive-like governance, with a queen overseeing reproduction and colony affairs; leadership can be centralized or contested among hives. They are renowned for engineering and architecture, building extensive factories and subterranean networks. Their political alliances often align with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.

In Star Wars media, Geonosians first appear in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, where Poggle the Lesser leads the Geonosian faction and outlines the production of battle droids.
