Genomistiikka

Genomistiikka, or genomics, is the branch of biology that studies the structure, function, evolution and mapping of genomes. It examines how genetic information is organized in DNA, how genomes are regulated, expressed and inherited, and how variations among individuals and species influence traits and health. The field integrates molecular biology, genetics, computer science and statistics to analyze large-scale genomic data.

The discipline relies on high-throughput sequencing, genome assembly and annotation, and bioinformatics approaches to interpret DNA and RNA sequences.
