It is described in science fiction and educational exercises as a common dust in arid regolith or planetary atmospheres. The term is not part of established mineralogy.

Formation and composition: Geeniteadust is imagined to form through mechanical weathering and thermal cycling of geenite-bearing rocks, producing grains ranging from submicron to tens of micrometers.
