Gasactuated

Gasactuated refers to a mechanism or device that is operated or controlled by the pressure of a gas. This can encompass a wide range of applications, from simple pneumatic tools to complex industrial control systems. The fundamental principle involves using a gas, often air, to generate force or motion.

In many systems, a compressor or pump supplies the gas under pressure to a reservoir. This pressurized gas is then directed through a series of valves and actuators. When a valve is opened, the gas flows into an actuator, such as a cylinder or piston. The pressure of the gas exerts force on the actuator, causing it to move and perform a specific function, like lifting a load, clamping a part, or opening and closing a valve.

They are often used in environments where electrical systems might pose a risk, such as in explosive atmospheres, due to their inherent safety features. Examples include pneumatic drills, air brakes in vehicles, automated manufacturing processes, and even some medical devices.
