Gaeldom, also known as Gaelic culture or Scottish Gaelic culture, refers to the cultural heritage of the Gaels, an ethnic group native to the island of Ireland and the Scottish Highlands. The term "Gael" is derived from the Latin word "Gallus," which was used to describe the inhabitants of Gaul, the region that is now France. The Gaels arrived in Ireland and Scotland around the 5th century AD, bringing with them their language, customs, and traditions.
