Gaaslahuses is a term that generally refers to the dissolution or absorption of a gas into a liquid. This process is fundamental in many natural and industrial applications. The solubility of a gas in a liquid is influenced by several factors, including temperature, pressure, and the chemical nature of both the gas and the liquid.

According to Henry's Law, at a constant temperature, the amount of a given gas that dissolves in a given type and amount of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid. This means that increasing the pressure of a gas above a liquid will increase the concentration of that gas dissolved in the liquid. For example, carbon dioxide is dissolved under pressure in bottled beverages, creating the effervescence when the bottle is opened and the pressure is released.

Temperature also plays a significant role. Generally, the solubility of gases in liquids decreases as temperature increases. This is because the dissolution of a gas into a liquid is often an exothermic process, meaning it releases heat. According to Le Chatelier's principle, increasing the temperature of an exothermic process will shift the equilibrium towards the reactants, thus decreasing solubility. An everyday example is a warm soda going flat faster than a cold one.

The chemical properties of the gas and the liquid are also crucial. Polar gases tend to dissolve better in polar liquids, and nonpolar gases in nonpolar liquids, following the "like dissolves like" principle. Certain gases can also react chemically with the solvent, leading to a much higher solubility than predicted by physical dissolution alone. This phenomenon is important in chemical manufacturing and environmental processes.
