GSDML
General Station Description Markup Language (GSDML) is an XML-based description file format used to describe industrial devices for PROFINET and related industrial Ethernet networks. It is designed to be read by engineering tools so that devices can be automatically recognized, configured, and integrated into a network without extensive manual parameter entry.
A GSDML file contains metadata about the device such as vendor name, device name and model, hardware
Usage and impact: manufacturers generate and distribute GSDML files for their PROFINET devices, and engineering tools
