GLONASStijd refers to the timekeeping system used by the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS). GLONASS, like other satellite navigation systems such as GPS, requires a precise and stable time reference to function correctly. The GLONASS system utilizes a specific time scale that is maintained by atomic clocks onboard its satellites. This time scale is known as GLONASS Time or GLONASStijd.

GLONASS Time is based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) but differs in its handling of leap seconds. Unlike UTC, which incorporates leap seconds to stay synchronized with Earth's rotation, GLONASS Time does not apply these adjustments.
