GETförfrågan is a term often encountered in web development and computer networking, specifically referring to a type of HTTP request. HTTP, or Hypertext Transfer Protocol, is the foundational protocol used for data communication on the World Wide Web. A GET request is one of the primary methods used to send data to a server.

The primary purpose of a GET request is to retrieve a resource from a specified server. This resource could be anything from a web page, an image, a document, or any other data that the server can provide. When a user types a URL into their web browser or clicks on a link, the browser typically sends a GET request to the web server hosting that URL. The server then processes the request and sends back the requested resource, which the browser then displays to the user.

One of the key characteristics of GET requests is that they are idempotent. This means that making the same GET request multiple times should have the same effect as making it once; it should not change the state of the server. GET requests can also include parameters, which are appended to the URL after a question mark (?) and are sent in the URL itself. These parameters are used to filter or specify the resource being requested. For example, a search query might use a GET request with parameters to indicate the search terms.
