Félhullámú

Félhullámú refers to a half-wave in Hungarian. This term is primarily used in the context of radio waves and antennas. A half-wave antenna is a resonant antenna that is approximately half the wavelength of the radio frequency it is designed to operate on. These antennas are popular due to their simplicity, relatively good efficiency, and ease of construction.

The electrical length of a half-wave antenna is often slightly shorter than its physical length due to the "end effect," where the radio waves do not extend perfectly to the physical ends of the conductor. The exact length depends on the diameter of the conductor and its proximity to other objects. Common examples of half-wave antennas include the half-wave dipole.

In electrical engineering, the concept of a half-wave can also apply to alternating current (AC) signals. A half-wave rectifier, for instance, is an electrical circuit that allows only one half of an AC voltage or current waveform to pass through. This results in a pulsating DC output. Diodes are typically used to achieve half-wave rectification. The term "félhullámú" therefore encapsulates this fundamental concept of half-wave phenomena in both electromagnetic waves and electrical signals.
