Färgspektrat

Färgspektrat refers to the range of colors that are visible to the human eye. When white light, such as sunlight, passes through a prism or is refracted by water droplets in the atmosphere, it separates into its constituent colors. This phenomenon is commonly observed as a rainbow. The colors in the spectrum appear in a specific order, which is universally recognized as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, often remembered by the acronym ROY G. BIV. Each color corresponds to a different wavelength of electromagnetic radiation within the visible light portion of the spectrum. Red light has the longest wavelength, while violet light has the shortest.

Beyond the visible spectrum, there are other forms of electromagnetic radiation that humans cannot see, such as infrared radiation (with longer wavelengths than red) and ultraviolet radiation (with shorter wavelengths than violet). The perception of color is a complex process involving the interaction of light waves with the photoreceptor cells (cones) in the retina of the eye, and subsequent interpretation by the brain. Different colors evoke various psychological and physiological responses. The study of color, including its physical properties, perception, and cultural significance, is known as chromatics or color science. Understanding the color spectrum is fundamental in fields ranging from physics and optics to art, design, and biology.
