Färdigbetong

Färdigbetong, often translated as ready-mix concrete, is concrete that is manufactured in a batching plant or mixer truck, then transported to the construction site. This contrasts with site-mixed concrete, which is mixed at the construction location. The term "färdigbetong" emphasizes its ready-to-use state upon delivery.

The process involves precise measurement and mixing of cement, aggregates (sand and gravel), and water, often with admixtures to modify properties such as workability, strength, or setting time. This controlled environment at the batching plant ensures a consistent quality of concrete, which is a significant advantage over site mixing, where variations in materials and mixing can lead to unpredictable results.

Färdigbetong is delivered to the site in specialized trucks equipped with rotating drums to maintain the concrete's plasticity during transport. Depending on the quantity and site accessibility, it can be poured directly from the truck, pumped via concrete pumps, or discharged into buckets for placement.
