Fundamentalisti

Fundamentalisti refers to adherents of fundamentalism, a religious movement characterized by a strict adherence to a set of core beliefs considered infallible. These beliefs are often rooted in a literal interpretation of sacred texts. While the term is most commonly associated with Protestant Christianity in the United States, fundamentalist movements exist within various religious traditions worldwide, including Islam, Judaism, and Hinduism.

The core tenets of fundamentalism typically include the divine inspiration and inerrancy of scripture, the virgin birth of Jesus, the atonement of Christ, the resurrection of Christ, and the belief in Christ's imminent second coming. In other religions, similar emphasis is placed on foundational texts and doctrines, often asserting their historical and factual accuracy. Fundamentalist movements often arise in response to perceived threats to their traditional beliefs and values, such as secularization, modern scientific theories, or social changes. They often advocate for a return to perceived purer, earlier forms of their faith.

Fundamentalist groups may engage in activism to promote their views in the public sphere, including advocating for changes in law and education. The term "fundamentalist" can sometimes be used pejoratively, but it also describes a self-identified group with specific theological and social stances. Understanding fundamentalism requires recognizing its diversity across different religious contexts and its emphasis on core doctrines as unchanging truths.
