Frukost

Frukost is the Swedish word for breakfast. It is the first meal of the day, typically eaten in the morning. In Sweden, frukost is often a substantial meal that can vary widely depending on personal preference and the day of the week.

Common elements of a traditional Swedish frukost include open-faced sandwiches known as smörgås, which are usually topped with cheese, ham, or other cold cuts. Beverages commonly enjoyed with frukost include coffee, tea, or milk. Juice, particularly orange juice, is also a popular choice. For a more elaborate weekend frukost, Swedes might enjoy pancakes or waffles. The overall emphasis is on a nourishing start to the day, with ingredients that provide energy and sustenance.
