Frontkanten

Frontkanten is a Swedish noun that literally means “the front edge.” It is a compound of front and kanten (the edge) and is used in various contexts to refer to the leading boundary of something that is advancing, facing, or exposed.

In meteorology, frontkanten describes the leading edge of a weather front as it moves into a region. This boundary separates air masses of different temperatures and humidities, and its position is closely associated with changes in wind, temperature, and precipitation.
