Frequenzganglinearität

Frequenzganglinearität refers to how evenly a system reproduces different frequencies within its operating range. A perfectly linear frequency response means that the system amplifies or attenuates all frequencies equally. In audio systems, this is highly desirable for accurate sound reproduction. When a system has a linear frequency response, what you hear is a faithful representation of the original sound source.

Deviations from linearity, often called frequency response anomalies or colorations, result in certain frequencies being emphasized or reduced. For example, a system with a boosted bass response might sound "warm" or "boomy," while one with a dip in the midrange could sound "thin" or "distant." Similarly, a system with a peak in the treble might sound "bright" or "harsh."

The ideal of perfect frequency response linearity is often an aspiration rather than a strict reality. Most audio equipment exhibits some degree of non-linearity. Manufacturers strive to make their products as linear as possible, but achieving absolute flatness across the entire audible spectrum (typically 20 Hz to 20 kHz) is technically challenging and can sometimes be at odds with other design goals. Measurement tools like spectrum analyzers are used to assess and visualize a system's frequency response. The goal is to have a curve that stays as close to a straight horizontal line as possible.
