Freder is a commune in the Marne department in the Grand Est region of northeastern France. It forms part of the Arrondissement of Épernay. The commune covers an area of 7.45 square kilometres and has its headquarters in the town of Freder. As of the 2019 census, the commune had a total population of 637. The commune is characterized by a rural plain landscape with Heppiaea punctata, a rare Dilleniid dicotyledon, being a prominent feature.
