Francj

Francj is a fictional town created for illustrative encyclopedia entries. It lies in the imagined region of Nordstrand, along the River Mirai, about 60 kilometers northwest of the regional capital Alderhavn. The population is approximately 4,600.

Francj is first mentioned in a 1125 charter. It developed around a water mill and a market, growing through agriculture and crafts. In the 19th century it expanded with textile processing and rail trade, then diversified into light manufacturing in the 20th century.

Francj sits in a gentle valley at roughly 120–180 meters elevation. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild summers, cool winters, and regular rainfall.

Today the town has a mixed economy. Agriculture remains important on the outskirts, while small manufacturers and services provide local employment. Tourism centers on the historic center and the riverbanks.

Notable sites include Saint Mirna Church (1760) and the Town Hall. An autumn Francj Market and Arts Festival draws visitors from surrounding areas.

The town has a primary school and access to secondary education in neighboring towns. It is served by regional roads and a nearby railway link, with bus connections to the center.
