Fotonstråling

Fotonstråling, often referred to as electromagnetic radiation, is a fundamental form of energy that travels as waves or particles called photons. These photons carry energy and momentum and exhibit properties of both waves and particles, a concept known as wave-particle duality. The spectrum of fotonstråling encompasses a vast range of wavelengths and frequencies, from very low-frequency radio waves to extremely high-frequency gamma rays.

Visible light, which we perceive as color, is a small portion of this spectrum. Other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum include radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays, and gamma rays. The energy of a photon is directly proportional to its frequency and inversely proportional to its wavelength. Higher frequencies and shorter wavelengths correspond to higher energy photons.

For instance, low-energy photons like radio waves can cause electrons to oscillate, while high-energy photons like X-rays and gamma rays can ionize atoms by knocking out electrons.
