Forwhether

Forwhether is a term that appears in some linguistic discussions as a hypothetical fused subordinator intended to combine the functions of for and whether. It is not part of established grammar in mainstream descriptive linguistics and has little to no presence in standard language references. The concept is mainly found in theoretical chats, conlang design notes, or speculative papers exploring how complex purpose and conditional or interrogative meaning might be compacted into a single marker.

Etymology and sense arise from a portmanteau of for and whether. In proposed analyses, forwhether could function as a single morpheme or a unitary particle that carries dual meaning: marking purpose (the action done for a particular outcome) and signaling a contingent or interrogative relation (whether a proposition holds or a future event will occur). Some accounts treat forwhether as a hypothetical historical development or a constructed-language feature, rather than a surviving form in natural languages.

Usage and analysis in existing discussions are speculative. If it exists, forwhether would be expected to attach to a following clause to express both purpose and contingency or inquiry.
