Forsendelse

Forsendelse is the act of sending goods or documents from one party to another, typically through postal services, courier companies, or freight forwarders. The term is used in Norwegian and Danish to denote a shipment or consignment.

Common types include letters, parcels, and freight shipments. Domestic forsendelser stay within a country; international forsendelser cross borders and may require customs documentation and duties.

Process: The sender prepares the item, chooses service level, packages securely, attaches a label with recipient address, sender information, and tracking number. For international shipments, customs forms with contents, value, and HS codes may be required. The carrier handles transit and delivery; tracking allows monitoring.

Costs depend on size, weight, destination, and service speed. Additional services include insurance, signature on delivery, and proof of delivery. Liabilities for loss or damage are typically defined by carrier terms, and are subject to local law and international rules.

Security and compliance: comply with prohibited items; packaging standards; environmental considerations; for business shipments, documentation and records are kept for accounting and customs.
