Forrasztással

Forrasztással, often translated as soldering, is a process used to join two or more metal items by melting and putting into the gap between them an alloy, called solder, which has a lower melting point than the base metals. The solder forms a strong electrical and mechanical bond between the metals. This technique is widely used in electronics, plumbing, and metalworking.

The process typically involves heating the parts to be joined and the solder with a soldering iron or torch. Once the base metals reach the melting point of the solder, the solder flows into the joint and wets the surfaces of the metals. Upon cooling, the solder solidifies, creating a permanent connection. Flux is often used in conjunction with solder to clean the surfaces of the metals, preventing oxidation and promoting better solder flow.

Different types of solder exist, with tin-lead alloys being historically common. However, due to environmental concerns, lead-free solders, often based on tin, silver, and copper, are now prevalent, particularly in electronics manufacturing. The choice of solder depends on the specific application, the metals being joined, and required properties such as strength and conductivity.
