Formaldehyde is a colorless, strong-smelling gas that is commonly used in the manufacturing of building materials, household products, and industrial processes. In indoor environments, formaldehyde is released from sources such as pressed-wood products (e.g., particleboard, plywood), furniture, textiles, and adhesives.
