Flächennutzungsplan (FNP) is the municipal land-use plan used in Germany to show how land within a municipality is intended to be used in the future. It forms part of the Baugesetzbuch (BauGB) and serves as the preparatory or general framework for spatial development. The FNP divides the entire municipal area into broad land-use categories, such as residential areas, mixed-use areas, commercial and industrial zones, special zones, agricultural land, forests, open spaces, recreation areas, and transport infrastructure.
