Flächengewicht

Flächengewicht, also known as grammage or basis weight, is a measure of the mass of paper or other thin sheet material per unit area. It is typically expressed in grams per square meter (g/m²), often abbreviated as gsm. This unit is internationally recognized and widely used in the paper industry and in contexts where the thickness and density of sheet materials are important.

The concept of Flächengewicht is crucial for understanding the physical properties of paper. A higher Flächengewicht generally indicates a heavier, thicker, and more durable paper. Conversely, a lower Flächengewicht suggests a lighter and thinner paper.
