Fluxáló

Fluxáló refers to the process of fluxing, which is the application of a flux. A flux is a chemical cleaning agent, typically used in soldering and welding. Its primary purpose is to remove oxides and other impurities from the surfaces of the metals being joined. Without a flux, these contaminants can prevent the molten solder or filler metal from properly wetting and bonding to the base metals, leading to a weak or incomplete joint.

The flux achieves this by reacting with the oxides at the elevated temperatures involved in soldering or welding. This reaction forms a slag that is less dense than the molten metal and floats to the surface, where it can be easily brushed or wiped away. Fluxes also help to prevent the formation of new oxides during the heating process by forming a protective barrier over the heated metal.

There are various types of fluxes, categorized by their chemical composition and the type of metals they are designed for. Common types include rosin-based fluxes, acid-based fluxes, and inorganic fluxes. The choice of flux depends on factors such as the type of metals being joined, the soldering temperature, and the desired level of cleaning action. After the soldering or welding process, residual flux may need to be cleaned from the joint, as some fluxes can be corrosive over time.
