Flamsprutning

Flamsprutning, also known as flame spraying or thermal spraying, is a thermal spraying process in which a combustible fuel is mixed with a gas and then ignited. This creates a flame that melts a feedstock material, which can be in the form of powder, wire, or rod. The molten material is then atomized by a stream of compressed air and propelled towards the substrate to be coated. As the droplets impact the surface, they flatten and solidify, building up a coating layer by layer.

The primary advantage of flamsprutning is its ability to apply a wide range of materials, including metals, alloys, ceramics, and plastics. It is a versatile coating process used for a variety of applications, such as wear resistance, corrosion protection, thermal insulation, and electrical conductivity. The process is relatively simple and cost-effective, making it suitable for both large and small production runs.

Different fuel gases can be used, such as acetylene, propane, or hydrogen, depending on the material to be sprayed and the desired flame temperature. The choice of fuel gas influences the temperature of the flame and thus the melting capabilities of the process. The feedstock material is typically fed into the flame through a nozzle, where it is melted and accelerated. The compressed air jet also plays a crucial role in atomizing the molten material and directing it onto the substrate.

It can be used to repair worn components, enhance the performance of new parts, or create entirely new functional surfaces.
