Feltétel

Feltétel is a term derived from Hungarian, often translated as "condition" or "precondition." In various contexts, it refers to a requirement or stipulation that must be met for something else to occur or be valid. This concept is fundamental in logic, programming, law, and everyday decision-making.

In logic, a feltétel is an antecedent in a conditional statement. For instance, in the statement "If it is raining, then the ground is wet," "it is raining" is the feltétel. The truth of the consequent ("the ground is wet") depends on the truth of the feltétel. Failure of the feltétel to be true does not necessarily mean the consequent is false; it simply means the condition for the consequence is not met.

In computer programming, feltételek are used in control flow statements like `if-then-else` structures. A condition is evaluated, and if it is true, a specific block of code is executed. This allows programs to make decisions and respond dynamically to different situations. For example, a program might check a feltétel like `if user_is_logged_in:` before allowing access to certain features.

Legally, feltételek are crucial in contracts and agreements. They represent clauses that must be fulfilled by one or more parties for the contract to remain in effect or for certain rights or obligations to be triggered. A loan agreement, for instance, will have numerous feltételek, such as the borrower providing proof of income or the repayment schedule being adhered to.
