Fehérjeszintézisre is a Hungarian term that translates to "protein synthesis" in English. It refers to the fundamental biological process by which living cells build proteins. This process is essential for virtually all cellular functions, as proteins are the workhorses of the cell, carrying out a vast array of tasks from catalyzing metabolic reactions to providing structural support.

The process of protein synthesis begins with DNA, the genetic blueprint of an organism. Within the DNA, specific sequences called genes contain the instructions for building particular proteins. This information is first transcribed into a messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule. This mRNA then travels from the cell's nucleus to the cytoplasm, where it encounters ribosomes.

Ribosomes are the cellular machinery responsible for translating the mRNA code into a protein. The mRNA sequence is read in codons, which are sets of three nucleotide bases. Each codon specifies a particular amino acid, the building blocks of proteins. Transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules bring the corresponding amino acids to the ribosome, matching their anticodon sequence to the mRNA codon.

As the ribosome moves along the mRNA, it links the amino acids together in the specific order dictated by the genetic code, forming a polypeptide chain. This chain then folds into a complex three-dimensional structure, which determines the protein's function. This intricate process ensures that cells can produce the precise proteins needed for survival and proper functioning.
