Fehérjeinhibíció, or protein inhibition, refers to the process by which a molecule, known as an inhibitor, reduces or completely blocks the activity of a specific protein. Proteins are vital biological molecules that perform a vast array of functions within living organisms, acting as enzymes, structural components, signaling molecules, and more. Their activity is often crucial for maintaining cellular processes and overall health.

Inhibitors can exert their effect through various mechanisms. Some inhibitors bind to the active site of an enzyme, preventing the substrate from accessing it and thus halting the catalytic reaction. Others may bind to an allosteric site on the protein, causing a conformational change that reduces the protein's effectiveness or even inactivates it.
