Fate/EXTELLA, officially titled Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star, is an action role-playing game developed by Marvelous Inc. and published by Xseed Games. It is part of the popular Fate franchise, known for its extensive lore and character roster derived from historical and mythological figures. The game was released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017, with a Nintendo Switch port following in 2018.

The story of Fate/EXTELLA takes place on a digital world called SE.RA.PH, a virtual environment created after the Holy Grail War on the moon. Players assume the role of a nameless Master, who awakens with amnesia and finds themselves in possession of the Moon Cell Automaton, a powerful artifact. They are quickly embroiled in a conflict involving the Servants, heroic spirits summoned to fight alongside Masters. The narrative focuses on the rivalry between the three main Servants: Nero Claudius, Tamamo no Mae, and Attila the Hun, each vying for control of the Moon Cell.

Gameplay is characterized by hack-and-slash combat, where players control a chosen Servant and engage in large-scale battles against numerous enemies. Each Servant possesses unique abilities and fighting styles. A key mechanic involves conquering territories on the battlefield by defeating enemy commanders and destroying their defense structures. The game also features a "Extella Maneuver" special attack and an "Extella Burst" super move. Between battles, players can interact with their chosen Servants, strengthen their bonds, and uncover more about the overarching plot and character backstories. The narrative branches based on player choices and the Servant they align with.
