Fasnachtstag is the final day of Fasnacht, a period of carnival celebrations observed in German-speaking countries. It falls on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. The name "Fasnachtstag" literally translates to "Fasnacht day".
