Faserbänder, a German term translating to "fiber bands" or "fiber ribbons," refers to a specific construction method for optical fiber cables. Instead of individual fibers being jacketed and stranded together, Faserbänder group multiple optical fibers into a single, flat ribbon. These ribbons are typically made of a protective polymer material, holding the fibers in precise parallel alignment.

This ribbonized arrangement offers several advantages in fiber optic installation and management. For one, it significantly increases the fiber density within a given cable diameter, allowing for more data transmission capacity in a smaller footprint. This is particularly beneficial in high-density environments like data centers or telecommunication hubs.
