Farvetemperaturen

Farvetemperaturen, often referred to as color temperature, is a characteristic of visible light that describes the hue of light emitted by a light source. It is measured in Kelvin (K). While it uses the unit of temperature, it is important to understand that color temperature does not directly relate to the heat emitted by a light source. Instead, it describes the spectral distribution of the light.

Lower Kelvin values, such as 1000-3000K, correspond to warmer, more reddish-yellow light. This is often associated with incandescent bulbs and candlelight, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. As the Kelvin value increases, the light becomes cooler, shifting towards blue. For instance, 4000-5000K is considered neutral white, commonly found in office lighting, providing a balanced and clear illumination. Higher values, like 6000K and above, produce very cool, blue-white light, similar to daylight on a clear day, which can enhance alertness and detail perception.

The concept of color temperature is crucial in photography, videography, and interior design. Matching the color temperature of different light sources within a scene is essential for achieving accurate and consistent color rendering. For example, if a photograph is taken under mixed lighting conditions with different color temperatures, the white balance setting of the camera must be adjusted to compensate and ensure that white objects appear white, not tinted. Understanding color temperature allows for deliberate choices in lighting to evoke specific moods and achieve desired visual outcomes.
