Farbmesstools

Farbmesstools are instruments used to measure color properties of physical samples. They provide quantitative data on color attributes such as lightness, chroma, and hue, supporting consistent reproduction across batches and materials in manufacturing and design.

The main tools are spectrophotometers and colorimeters. Spectrophotometers measure the spectral reflectance or transmittance of a sample, delivering data in color spaces such as CIE XYZ and Lab for high-precision color matching. Colorimeters are simpler, cheaper devices that estimate tristimulus values with filters for routine process control.

Most Farbmesstools are portable handheld devices for field use, while others are benchtop instruments in laboratories. Some models integrate software to calculate color differences (Delta E), generate color-matching tables, and manage ICC profiles.

Measurements rely on standardized illuminants and observers (for example D65 and 1931 2°). Surface texture, gloss, and measurement geometry affect results, and metamerism can occur. Regular calibration against certified color standards and adherence to ISO and CIE guidelines are essential.

Applications span printing, textiles, paints, plastics, cosmetics, and automotive coatings, where objective color data supports quality control, product development, and regulatory compliance.
