FarbdisplayCRT, also known as a color CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) display, is a type of display technology used in older computer monitors and televisions. It operates by using a beam of electrons to excite phosphors on the screen, which then emit light. The color CRT display is capable of producing a wide range of colors by using three electron guns, each corresponding to one of the primary colors: red, green, and blue. These guns fire electrons onto their respective phosphors, which then emit light of the corresponding color. The intensity of each color can be varied to produce a vast array of colors, a process known as additive color mixing. The resolution of a color CRT display is determined by the number of pixels on the screen, with each pixel being composed of three sub-pixels for red, green, and blue. The refresh rate, which is the number of times per second the screen is redrawn, is another important factor in determining the display's performance. Color CRT displays were widely used in the 1980s and 1990s, but have since been largely replaced by more modern display technologies such as LCD and LED. Despite their obsolescence, color CRT displays are still used in some specialized applications, such as medical imaging and scientific research, due to their high brightness and wide color gamut.
