Familjeskapet
Familjeskapet is a Swedish term that translates directly to "family likeness" or "family resemblance." It is a philosophical concept primarily associated with the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein, particularly in his later philosophy as presented in Philosophical Investigations. Wittgenstein used the concept to critique the traditional philosophical approach of defining concepts by identifying a single set of essential, common properties shared by all instances of that concept.
Instead of a rigid definition, Wittgenstein proposed that members of a concept might share a complex network
Familjeskapet suggests that the meaning of a word or concept is not derived from an abstract essence
