Facetnäkymät, often translated as "faceted views" or "faceted search," is a user interface design and information retrieval technique that allows users to refine their search results by selecting from multiple categories or "facets." These facets are typically attributes or metadata associated with the items being searched. For example, in an online store, facets might include price range, brand, color, size, or customer rating.

The core principle behind facetnäkymät is to provide users with interactive filters that progressively narrow down a large set of data to a manageable and relevant subset. When a user selects a facet, the displayed results are immediately updated to only include items that match that selection. Users can often select multiple facets simultaneously, creating a highly specific search query without needing to type complex Boolean operators.
