FVerteilung

FVerteilung refers to the F-distribution, a continuous probability distribution that arises in statistical analysis. It is primarily used in hypothesis testing, particularly in analysis of variance (ANOVA) and regression analysis. The F-distribution is characterized by two parameters, known as degrees of freedom, which represent the sample sizes or the number of groups being compared.

The F-distribution is a right-skewed distribution. Its shape is determined by its two degrees of freedom parameters, often denoted as df1 and df2. As the degrees of freedom increase, the F-distribution approaches a normal distribution. The F-distribution is always non-negative, meaning its values range from zero to infinity.

In ANOVA, the F-distribution is used to compare the means of two or more groups. It tests whether the variance between the group means is significantly larger than the variance within the groups. A large F-statistic suggests that at least one group mean is different from the others.

In regression analysis, the F-distribution is used to test the overall significance of the regression model. It assesses whether the independent variables, as a group, explain a significant portion of the variance in the dependent variable. A significant F-statistic indicates that the model as a whole is a better fit than a model with no predictors. The F-distribution is derived from the ratio of two independent chi-squared distributions, each divided by its respective degrees of freedom.
