FSCmärk

FSCmärk is a certification mark indicating that a product originates from a responsibly managed forest. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide. Products bearing the FSCmärk have been independently certified to meet strict environmental, social, and economic standards. This means that the wood or paper used in the product comes from forests that are managed in a way that conserves biodiversity, respects the rights of indigenous peoples and workers, and ensures the economic viability of the forest.

The FSCmärk comes in several variations, distinguishing between different levels of forest-based content in a product. FSC 100% indicates that all wood or paper in the product comes from FSC-certified forests. FSC Recycled signifies that the material used is 100% post-consumer recycled content. FSC Mixed Sources means the product contains material from FSC-certified forests, recycled material, or controlled wood, which is wood from sources that are not considered to be at risk of originating from an unacceptable source. The certification process involves auditing the entire supply chain, from the forest to the final product, to ensure adherence to FSC standards. Consumers can look for the FSCmärk on a variety of products, including paper, furniture, building materials, and packaging, to make informed choices about sustainable forestry.
