Fólksfundum

Fólksfundum, translating to "people's meetings" or "public assemblies" in English, refers to a traditional form of democratic gathering common in Nordic countries, particularly Iceland. These meetings served as a vital forum for local communities to discuss and decide on matters of common concern. Historically, fólksfundum were the primary mechanism for direct democracy at the local level, allowing citizens to voice opinions, propose solutions, and collectively make decisions on issues ranging from lawmaking and dispute resolution to resource management and community projects.
