Eyüp

Eyüp is a district in Istanbul, Turkey, located on the Golden Horn. It is named after Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, who is believed to be buried in the area. The Eyüp Sultan Mosque, built around his tomb, is one of the most revered sites in Istanbul and a significant pilgrimage destination for Muslims.

The district is a vibrant mix of old and new, with narrow, winding streets in the older parts leading to more modern developments. The hill is accessible by a cable car and features the famous Pierre Loti Cafe, a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy the scenery. The district also has a bustling market area around the mosque, selling religious items, souvenirs, and local snacks.
