Extrarenalis is a Latin adjective used in anatomical and medical contexts to denote structures situated outside the kidney. In contemporary English medical terminology, the corresponding term is extrarenal. The form appears mainly in historical descriptions, Latin glossaries, or revived Latinized nomenclature, rather than as a common in-body descriptor.

In practice, extrarenalis as a descriptor refers to conditions or anatomical variants in which parts of the renal collecting system lie outside the renal parenchyma. The most frequently cited examples are extrarenal pelvis and, less commonly, extrarenal calyces or an extrarenal collecting system. Most extrarenal variants are benign and asymptomatic, requiring no treatment beyond appropriate documentation and, if necessary, routine follow-up.

Usage today tends toward extrarenal in clinical practice, with extrarenalis retained primarily for historical, Latinized, or taxonomic references. The concept remains a straightforward anatomical descriptor for structures or variants located outside the kidney, and it is largely contextual within broader discussions of renal anatomy and congenital anomalies.
