ExtensorMuskeln
Extensor muscles are a group of muscles found in the human body responsible for straightening or extending a limb or other body part. They work in opposition to flexor muscles, which are responsible for bending or flexing. When an extensor muscle contracts, it pulls on the bone it is attached to, causing the joint to open or straighten. For example, the quadriceps femoris in the thigh is a major extensor muscle that straightens the knee. Similarly, the triceps brachii on the back of the upper arm extends the elbow. Extensor muscles are crucial for posture, locomotion, and many everyday movements such as standing up, walking, and reaching. They are also vital for maintaining balance and stability. Damage or weakness in extensor muscles can significantly impair a person's ability to perform these actions, leading to difficulties with mobility and coordination. Rehabilitation exercises often focus on strengthening these muscles to restore function after injury or surgery.
