ExsAtype
ExsAtype is a genetic locus found in certain strains of the bacterium *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. This locus plays a crucial role in the regulation of the type III secretion system (T3SS), a complex molecular machine used by bacteria to inject effector proteins directly into host cells. The ExsA protein, encoded by the *exsA* gene within this locus, acts as a transcriptional regulator. It controls the expression of several downstream genes involved in the T3SS, including those responsible for the assembly of the secretion apparatus and the production of effector proteins.
The ExsAtype regulatory system operates through a feedback mechanism. ExsA itself is regulated by another protein,
