Exportvärdet

Exportvärdet refers to the monetary value of goods and services exported from a country during a given period, typically measured in current prices. It is a central figure in international trade statistics and is used to gauge the size and development of a country's external demand.

In official statistics, exportvärdet for goods is commonly recorded on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, meaning the value of the goods at the border before freight and insurance. For services, exportvärdet reflects payments received for services delivered to foreign residents. Values are reported in the local currency or converted to a common currency, and can be reported in nominal (current price) terms or, less commonly, real terms when adjusted for price changes.

Exportvärdet is used together with importvärdet to compute the trade balance and to analyze export performance, competitiveness, and contribution to GDP. It is published by national statistical agencies (for example, Statistics Sweden) and international organizations. Analysts consider both the value and the volume (quantity) of exports, and may use price indices to separate price changes from quantity changes.

Limitations include that exportvärdet does not convey product mix or quality, may be affected by exchange rate movements, and differences in valuation rules between countries can complicate cross-country comparisons.
