Expanzní

Expanzní is a Czech adjective derived from expanze, meaning related to or caused by expansion. In technical contexts it is used for devices, components or processes designed to accommodate volume or length changes due to temperature, pressure, or phase changes. The most common reference is expanzní nádoba, or expansion vessel, a closed vessel connected to a heating, cooling or water-supply system to absorb the increase in liquid volume when it heats up, thereby preventing dangerous pressure rise and protecting equipment.

In heating systems, expansion vessels are typically diaphragm- or bladder-type tanks pre-charged with air or inert gas. As the water warms and expands, the liquid pushes against the inner membrane, compressing the gas cushion. When the system cools, the gas expands back, keeping pressure within safe limits. The pre-charge pressure is matched to the operating pressure of the system.

Expansion devices are also used in domestic water supply to absorb thermal expansion in closed-loop or pressurized systems, and in solar thermal and industrial processes. The term expanzní can appear in other compound terms, such as expanzní tlak (expansion pressure) or expanzní soustava.
