Euterios

Euterios, also known as Euthetius or Euthetius of Asia, was a 5th-century Byzantine historian and bishop. He is primarily known for his historical work, *Historiae Ecclesiasticae*, which covers the period from 324 to 439 AD. This text provides valuable insights into the political, military, and ecclesiastical events of the early Byzantine Empire, particularly during the reigns of Constantine the Great and his successors.

Born in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), Euterios served as the bishop of the city of Gordium before his historical writings gained prominence. His work is notable for its detailed accounts of the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) and subsequent theological debates, particularly the Arian Controversy, which divided the early Christian church over the nature of Christ. Euterios’ writings reflect a pro-Nicene perspective, aligning with the orthodox Christian doctrine that Christ is of the same substance as God the Father.
