EurostatLabour

EurostatLabour is a European statistical initiative within Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, dedicated to standardizing, compiling, and disseminating labour market statistics across member states. It aims to provide timely, comparable data to support policy analysis and monitoring of the EU labour market.

Its scope covers indicators such as employment and unemployment rates, inactivity, hours worked, earnings, job vacancies, labour productivity, and mobility. It also tracks youth inclusion, long-term unemployment, and gender gaps, providing both quarterly and annual series to reflect cyclical and structural trends.

Data are drawn from harmonized sources, primarily the European Labour Force Survey (LFS), national accounts, and administrative records, then adjusted to EU statistical standards (ESA). Methodological notes accompany datasets to explain definitions, classifications, seasonal adjustment, and quality considerations.

Products include public dashboards, machine-readable datasets, standard statistical tables, country profiles, and methodological documentation. Access is free via the Eurostat data portal, with data downloadable in CSV or SDMX formats and supplemented by periodic releases and press materials.

Governance is organized by a dedicated EurostatLabour unit within Eurostat's Directorate for Labour Market and Social Statistics. The unit coordinates with national statistical institutes, ensures adherence to the European Statistical System principles, and oversees quality assurance, metadata standards, and methodological harmonization.

EurostatLabour supports EU policymakers, researchers, and national authorities in monitoring the European Semester, designing labour market reforms, and evaluating policy outcomes. It provides a common evidence base for comparisons across countries and over time, contributing to transparency and accountability in EU labour statistics.
