Ethernetliittimiä, commonly known as Ethernet connectors, are physical interfaces used to connect networking cables to devices for data transmission over Ethernet networks. These connectors are crucial components in Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), enabling communication between computers, routers, switches, and other network-enabled equipment. The most prevalent type of Ethernet connector is the Registered Jack 45, or RJ45.

RJ45 connectors are standardized, modular plugs and sockets designed to terminate twisted-pair Ethernet cables. They typically feature eight pins and eight conductors (8P8C), although not all pins are always utilized depending on the Ethernet standard. These connectors are designed for easy plug-and-play connectivity, allowing users to quickly establish or disconnect network links.

Beyond RJ45, other Ethernet connector types exist, though they are less common in standard networking environments. These can include specialized connectors for industrial applications, fiber optic Ethernet, or older networking technologies. However, for most home and office Ethernet setups, the RJ45 connector is the de facto standard. The quality and proper installation of Ethernet connectors directly impact network performance, reliability, and speed, making them essential for a functional network infrastructure.
